Michael Genese - tenor, violinist, composer, and educator, teaches elementary music in the New Bedford Public School system. Michael gives private violin lessons, and sings both as a Choral Scholar at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newport, Rhode Island, and as a Tenor in the Boston-based project choir, Voices 21c. He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island in Music Education and Vocal Performance, and has catalogued numerous compositions for choir, piano, and chamber music ensembles. . Collaborations with the URI Kingston Quartet and the URI Symphony, who performed an orchestrated movement of Michael’s largest opus, Grief Concerto for Piano and Choir, were forged in 2015. In February of 2017, the Providence new music ensemble Verdant Vibes premiered Genese’s work “Three Miniatures for Violin and Narration.” Genese looks to the future with plans to continue his formal education in composition, and spreading the knowledge and beauty of music wherever possible.
